Why talk about our hair and other body hair?

Since time immemorial, these bodily features have left no one indifferent. They occupy a large part of our thoughts, are intensely shaped and influence all human relationships.

Tamed, styled, waxed, set free, real or fake, concealed, seen as shameful or proudly displayed, body hair tells a deeply human story. Across the ages, cultures and personalities, hair has served in turn as adornment, a sign of power, a marker of identity, and an object of desire, control, discrimination, struggle, liberation and memory.

From 30 August to 1 December, through a programme of eight events, the Stavelot-Trois-Ponts Cultural Centre and the Le Versailles cinema in Stavelot invite you to question and unravelling the threads of our astonishing relationship – both intimate and collective – with our body hair. There are so many stories to tell about it! We’ll try to shed some light on a few of them.
